As a business owner, keeping my office building clean and germ-free is a top priority. The health and safety of my employees and clients depend on it. In this article, I’ll discuss some of the latest innovations in commercial cleaning that can help ensure a sanitary workplace.
Automated Cleaning Solutions
In the past, office cleaning was an entirely manual process. But new automated technologies are revolutionizing the industry. For example:
Autonomous Floor Cleaners
Self-driving floor scrubber robots utilize advanced navigation technology to move through an area, cleaning floors and carpets. Some models, like the BrainOS autonomous floor cleaner, use AI and sensors to detect people and obstacles, planning the most efficient cleaning routes. These robotic cleaners free up human workers to focus on more detailed tasks.
UV-Disinfecting Robots
Robots equipped with ultraviolet C-band (UV-C) light, such as the Xenex GermZapping Robot, emit concentrated light that destroys viruses, bacteria, and fungi. They can disinfect high-touch surfaces and rooms much faster than manual cleaning. I’ve deployed UV-C robots in my office after hours to sanitize everything and provide an extra level of germ protection.
Smart Waste Management
New smart waste bins, such as the CleanCube system, can monitor trash levels and automatically self-seal when full. They use odor control and UV-C technology to kill germs around the bin. Automated waste collection improves hygiene and reduces cross-contamination risks.
Innovative Cleaning Solutions
Chemical cleaning agents are also evolving to be safer, more sustainable, and more effective at eliminating germs. Here are some of the latest solutions:
Electrolyzed Water Technology
Electrolyzed water cleaners, such as Clorox Total 360, work by electrochemically converting water and sodium chloride into an all-purpose hypochlorous acid solution. This chemical-free cleaner sanitizes surfaces and deodorizes rooms without irritating chemicals. It’s gentle enough for daily cleaning.
Self-Sanitizing Surface Coatings
New advanced surface coatings, like Microban 24, provide continuous product protection against bacteria using silver ion technology. These odor-resistant coatings are perfect for high-touch surfaces like desks, door handles, and railings to inhibit microbial growth.
UV-C Light Sanitation
Far-UVC light at 222nm can safely sanitize indoor air and surfaces like HVAC systems when rooms are empty. Unlike higher wavelength UV light, it doesn’t penetrate human eyes and skin. I’ve installed UV Angel Clean Air devices in our HVAC systems to sanitize the air and surfaces 24/7.
Enhanced Cleaning Procedures
Utilizing advanced technologies is an excellent first step, but enhanced cleaning practices are equally important. Here are some ways I’ve improved procedures in my office:
Screening Visitors
I ensure all guests and visitors are screened for symptoms upon entry and provided hand sanitizer. Their contact information is also logged in case contact tracing becomes necessary.
Providing Sanitation Stations
Placing hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipe stations throughout the office lets employees regularly clean their work areas. I also upgraded to touchless dispensers to reduce contact spread.
Sanitizing High-Touch Surfaces
High-touch hot zones like door handles, railings, elevators buttons, and light switches need thorough disinfection multiple times per day. My cleaning crew has specific schedules for when these areas are sanitized.
Improving Indoor Air Quality
From increasing outside airflow to installing air purifiers and UV technology, improving ventilation reduces airborne pathogens. I’ve optimized our HVAC settings and filtrations to sanitize indoor air.
With the latest automated cleaning devices, antimicrobial solutions, enhanced procedures, and vigilant monitoring, I’m confident my office provides a safe, germ-free environment for all who occupy the space. Though staying ahead of pathogens is a constant battle, these innovations give me the upper hand.
