Keeping a clean bathroom can feel like a constant battle, but it doesn’t have to be. With some simple tricks and products, I can get my bathroom sparkling clean in no time. Here are the quickest and easiest ways I clean my bathroom from top to bottom.
Clean the Mirror and Counter
The mirror and countertop tend to get splashed and spotted during everyday use. To clean them, I use a multi-surface spray cleaner. I spray the mirror and wipe it down with a microfiber cloth, then do the same for the countertop. The spray cleaner helps dissolve soap scum and toothpaste quickly. I also find microfiber cloths don’t leave behind lint or streaks. This takes just a couple minutes each day to keep the mirror and counter looking shiny.
Scrub the Sink
Baking soda is my secret weapon for cleaning the bathroom sink quickly. I sprinkle some baking soda into the sink basin and use a damp sponge to gently scrub. The baking soda is mildly abrasive so it gets rid of stains from toothpaste and other grime. Rinsing with hot water washes away the baking soda and any dirt. For tough stains, I let the baking soda sit for 5-10 minutes before scrubbing. My metal, porcelain, and ceramic sinks all come out sparkling after this treatment.
Clean the Toilet Bowl
Instead of scrubbing the toilet bowl manually, I use a toilet bowl cleaner to do the tough work for me. I squirt the cleaner under the rim and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Then I scrub with a toilet brush and flush. The chemicals in the cleaner break down the grime, so very little elbow grease is required. This saves me time and effort. I use a brush designed specifically for toilets so I’m not spreading germs from the toilet to other areas.
Tackle the Shower and Bathtub
I always clean the shower while I’m still in it! I keep a shower spray or gel cleaner in the corner. While I’m rinsing off, I quickly spray down the walls and squeegee the doors. This eliminates soap scum and hard water build up. For the bathtub, I sprinkle baking soda and spray vinegar over the bottom surface. As the vinegar fizzes with the baking soda, it dissolves soap scum. After 10 minutes, I wipe down the tub with a wet sponge. Both the tub and shower stay cleaner longer if they air dry after using this method.
Clean the Floors
I installed a washable shower curtain liner so I can toss it in the washing machine periodically. This prevents dirt, soap scum, and mildew from accumulating on it. For the bathroom floors, I use a steam mop. The heat and steam loosens up grime from the tile and grout. I can steam mop the floors in minutes without chemicals. The floors dry quickly too. I go over high traffic areas like in front of the sink more thoroughly. The steam mop doesn’t require heavy scrubbing or rinsing which saves me energy.
Freshen the Air
To keep bathroom odors at bay, I light a scented candle or run an essential oil diffuser. I also open the window or turn on the vent fan during and after showering. An air purifier helps capture excess moisture and filter the air. I change the air purifier filter every 3 months.
Keeping on top of daily cleanup and using the right tools has made cleaning the bathroom a breeze. It saves me time and energy so I can spend my day doing things I really enjoy. A clean, fresh smelling bathroom helps me feel relaxed and put together too.
